Bastion Security Group has built an understanding of how Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) can benefit a business far beyond the metric of financial success.
Staff Wellbeing
Bastion Security Group has our staff at the centre of who we are and what we are about, we measure our success on the wellbeing of our staff. Below highlights some of the areas we focus on:
- Annual and Long Service Leave: Bastion Security Group understands the importance of a work-life balance and provides generous annual leave which increases annually for our staff who have been with us for more than two years. All leave types are available from the start of employment, rather than having to wait six months. Our long service leave is available to staff after being with us for ten years.
- Flexible Working Hours and Location: At Bastion Security Group we understand that staff have families and other key responsibilities, and flexible hours help with this. Our flexible work location policy allows staff to work from home or other areas without stress.
- EAP Services: Bastion Security Group cares about the mental wellbeing and other private matters of our staff. EAP Services are a great avenue for staff to seek independent help.
- Professional Development Plans: Bastion Security Group understands that progression and personal growth is a large part of staff wellbeing. We have robust internal processes to ensure growth is supported and encouraged.
- Salary: Bastion Security Group pays competitive salaries to its employees in line with industry rates. Salaries are reviewed at least once a year.
- Bonus: Akin to a company dividend, Bastion Security shares the financial success of our combined effort with our staff. This profit share is distributed every quarter.
- Training Budget: $5,000 per staff member, per annum.
- Wellbeing Allowance: Bastion Security Groups understands the benefits of staying healthy and provides gym membership to our staff in Wellington and Auckland.
Recruitment
Bastion Security Group is built on diversity and inclusion. Our recruitment advertisements are assessed to ensure they are welcoming and inclusive, removing historic biases that cater to a certain subset of the IT industry. Our diverse staff are involved in the various stages of our interview process.
Industry Participation
Bastion Security Group has a large involvement and investment within the IT, STEM university and education sectors, where we are guided by the economic principle of creating shared value. We understand that investing in our society further benefits it and the group.
Environment
Bastion Security Group has a Green Team who meet regularly to discuss Bastion Security Group’s current and future green initiatives.
Clients
Bastion Security Group has many clients that fall under our social responsibility bracket, a large subset of which are government entities (50+). Bastion Security Group invests a large portion of our staff’s time to ensuring New Zealand is safe from cyber threats.
Human Rights Advocacy
Bastion Security Group maintains a register of countries and clients for whom we will not undertake any work.
Industry Partners
Bastion Security Group has a high interest in supporting other local businesses. We maintain a wide partner network and focus on local Kiwi and Australian partnerships.
Sponsorship
Bastion Security Group has a considerable budget to sponsor events in New Zealand to see a net benefit to our community and wider society.
Hacking for Heroes
Bastion Security Group runs an initiative called Hacking for heroes that donates $80,000 of our consultancy time to NZ not-for-profits, with the goal of helping them to increase their security posture and raise the awareness among their staff and volunteers.
